Happy Birthday, David

Happy Birthday, David

Chicken Velvet is on the menu today.  It is a recipe in Mom's first cookbook called David's Favorite Chicken Velvet Soup.  My Mother wanted to include us as much as possible in the daily Peach Tree life that she and Dad created.  One way Mom did this was to put some of our favorite foods on the menu to serve in the restaurant.  Chicken Velvet was David's Favorite Chicken Soup which he followed up by ordering a Brownie Delight made with a "center cut" brownie (his instructions to me since I worked the dessert station in the kitchen).

As soon as David's dessert was served, we would all look at him expectantly and he would say "Ok, everyone get your bite so I can enjoy my dessert!"

David, whatever your plans for the day - know that there is a soup named just for you by your sweet Mama on the menu today.  I hope you have time to enjoy a bowl....... and I will fix your Very Own Brownie Delight just like you like it!

Happy Birthday, Big Brother!

love,

Tina

Gepa's Soup

My grandmother made this soup for us often when I was young.  It is a delicious soup that everyone in the family enjoys.  It wasn't until I was an adult that I found out it was actually my grandfather, Gepa's (GEE-PAW) recipe which he taught to my grandmother.  My mother included it in her third cookbook, With Love, From Cynthia.  Knowing that he never wrote down the recipe makes me smile that once again, my mother could taste something and figure out quantities and ingredients to be just like what she tasted.  It's a delicious beef and vegetable soup! In honor of the fathers and grandfathers who play such important roles in our lives, this soup will be on the menu this Sunday for Father’s Day. We hope you have a happy Father’s Day!

Local Artist Julie Sawtelle

Square Pear

Julie Sawtelle is a creative local artist who takes great joy in expressing her love of art through her paintings. She uses different techniques to accomplish originals in oil on canvas. We have three of her unique pieces in our store Home at Last. "Fresh" has precise and straight lines for a clean and exciting modern look. "Square Pear" is one of Julie's more complex pieces of art. She painted individual small squares that together create a colorful pear shape when viewed from a distance. "Square Pear" would look wonderful in a large room.

Cynthia's Memorial Garden

Cynthia Collins Pedregon loved her Creator, and shared that love with those she met each day. Talented in many ways, she used her gifts of cooking and gardening to love and bless others. Always ready to greet a friend or guest with grace, she was most often found working in the kitchen or lovingly tending her garden. It was the garden where she found a peaceful presence that enriched her life.

In memory of Cynthia and in the hope that others will feel the presence of the Lord in a garden of grace and love, her family has created a fund to install a garden of native flowers, plants and trees at St. Mary's Catholic Church between the church and the new parish hall. It will be an inviting place for reflection and prayer, a place to rest among natural beauty given to us by the Lord Cynthia loved so much.
